Animations and Special Effects

Film, advertising and animation
For decades Nissel Limited have been behind many of the special effects in memorable motion pictures and has added an extra dimension to brand advertising in numerous commercials. That mantle has been maintained by Cantor & Nissel Limited.

Eyes and contact lenses have been supplied for many theatrical productions as well as for the Natural History Museum. The company also has a long-established relationship with many of the world's top model-makers and animatronic workshops, including Jim Henson's Creature Workshop.
A range of 3/4 spheres are produced normally for use in puppets and models which are manufactured from a specially formulated resin. Spheres vary in both size and price, up to a maximum size of 152mm. Location holes can be machined and the back surface of these products milled in order to accommodate animatronics. Full spheres, half spheres and one-quarter spheres are also available.
These products can either be supplied as blanks or the finished hand-painted article. Cantor & Nissel Limited technical artists can work to any artwork or dimensions within the range quoted. Images can be sent in JPG or Bitmap formats to the company on info@cantor-nissel.co.uk.

¾ spheres can be bored out for mechanical mounting.
Animatronic eyes are also available with corneal bulges, which can be offset, sizes for corneal bulges range from 12.00mm to 60.00mm
All animatronic eyes are manufactured with a clear protective skin to ensure the artwork does not become damaged in use.

Scleral Shells / Cover Shell
Made from medical grade plastic scleral shell or cover shell will mask over the complete human eye. The shell will move with the eye enabling close-up any angle film shot, without showing the actor's true eye.
Like the range of animatronic eyes the artwork of the shell is protected with a thin clear layer of protective material.
As the shell is in contact with the human eye Cantor & Nissel will only supply this product in conjunction with a qualified Optician.

Artificial Eyes
Cantor & Nissel produce a complete range of artificial eyes that can be used in Waxworks / mannequins / heads.
Using a unique production method the eyes are produced from inert medical grade plastics. As with the animatronic eyes and cover shells the artwork is sealed by a protective clear skin.

Micro Corneal Lenses (contact lenses)
When only the central or coloured part of the eye requires a special effect, Cantor & Nissel can provide a conventional contact lens.
The contact lens is manufactured from clear medical grade plastic with the artwork laminated or sealed. None of the materials can leach, the contact lens being totally inert.
As with conventional contact lenses a prescription can be incorporated into the device if required.
A full range of fittings are available as the contact lens is individually tailored to the eye.
As the shell is in contact with the human eye Cantor & Nissel will only supply this product in conjunction with a qualified Optician.
