Apex Rigid Lenses
Apex rigid gas permeable lenses are designed to mask trauma to the cornea
Design and material
In cases where a patient may have a scarred or disfigured cornea, either as the result of trauma or surgery,
an apex lens may be used to bridge the scarring.
An apex lens is a rigid lens made in a bicurve design with a very large total diameter, typically 12.00 or 12.50mm.
Apex lenses will normally have a back optic zone diameter of 10.00mm.
It has been traditional to produce lenses in clear material although nowadays many practitioners find that a neutral
handling tint is beneficial for the patient.
The apex design can be produced in any material. The powers of these lenses is frequently high plus and it is therefore
possible to choose any level of permeability with confidence.

Aqualine MF Series
Progressive multifocal rigid gas permeable lenses
The Cantor & Nissel Aqualine MF is a centre-distance simultaneous vision rigid lens multifocal.
Progressive power profile
Aqualine MF back surface is a spherical multicurve design with a large optic zone. Aqualine MF achieves the right
balance between distance, intermediate and near vision because of its unique aspheric front surface which generates
a progressive power profile that is customized for individual patient prescription requirements.
Stable vision at distance and near
Aqualine MF provides high quality, stable vision at distance, intermediate and near. For presbyopic rigid lens wearers,
Aqualine MF is the natural first choice for clear vision with no compromise.

Aquasil (also sold as Aquaperm)
An enhanced biocompatibility RGP lens for daily wear
'Smart surface' technology
Aquasil is a unique monomer which is chemically treated after manufacture to have a very thin layer of Hema
on the surface. This enhances wettability and comfort of the lens by comparison to other RGP materials.
Product Features
- Available in any combination of lens parameters.
- Finished lenses are extremely stable.
- Available in toric and bifocal forms.

Bifocal RGP Lenses
A variety of bifocal RGP lenses for daily wear are made to order
Concentric bifocal
Concentric bifocal can be manufactured in any RGP material. The central zone, typically 3.50mm in diameter, is powered
for distance vision. This is surrounded by an annulus of reading power. The lens-cornea relationship must be designed
to provide on-eye dynamics such that the lens will translate on downgaze. The lens must be well-centred on forward gaze
to make sure that the patient is looking through the distance zone. Pupil diameters may be varied to suit individual
patient needs.

Evolution RGP
Aberration controlled RGP lenses
The Cantor & Nissel Evolution RGP employs an advanced aspheric front surface design to create a lens that can
deliver superior quality of vision to all wearers.
Clearer, sharper vision
Evolution RGP is designed to control both the inherent spherical aberrations of the lens and the
lens-tears-cornea system. As a result, more light is brought to a retinal focus to give higher
contrast sensitivity and improved image perception especially in low ambient light levels.
Masks astigmatism
The enhanced depth of focus provided by Evolution RGP masks low to moderate levels of astigmatism.
Helps the early presbyope
Similarly, the reduction in blur circle acts as an aid for the early presbyope.

High Performance RGP Materials
Paragon HDS
A new-technology premium rigid lens material which offers optimal stability, precision optics and clinical
performance. The HDS range is based on a new polymer with only 'efficient' purified silicone combined with
the best features of PMMA for excellent clinical performance.
Hybrid FS
Hybrid FS is a material developed by Contamac Ltd which combines fluorosiliconeacrylate material with a hydrogel
component. This unique fluid surface technology ensures that a true hydrophilic surface is available at all
times - no special surface treatments or re-processing are required.

Keratoconus RGP Lenses
A comprehensive range of rigid lenses which has been developed specifically for keratoconus.
Keratoconus is a corneal ectasia that results in irregular astigmatism. Although keratometry can provide useful
fitting information in the early to moderate stages, corneal mapping devices are better for interpreting the corneal
topography, especially in the intermediate to later stages of this disease.
Contact lens fitting in cases of keratoconus can test the skills of the practitioner. Diagnostic lens evaluation is
mandatory. Cantor & Nissel provide a comprehensive diagnostic set of rigid lenses which have been developed specifically
for this condition.
Product features
- Available in any rigid lens material
- Tricurve construction specifically designed for the condition
Diagnostic lenses
Standard sets are available. Please call for details. Currently, the most widely accepted rigid corneal lens fitting
philosophy is one in which the intention is to distribute the weight of the lens between the cone and the more normal
peripheral cornea. In cases where the cone is well established, this results in a lens showing an apical contact area
of 2-3 mm, an intermediate clearance zone and a mid-peripheral contact annulus with standard edge clearance at the
periphery. With the exception of very early cases, it is essential to use lenses such as the set supplied by
Cantor & Nissel to achieve this type of fit.

MetrO2
Daily wear RGP lenses with a unique incremental design, providing controlled oxygen transmissibility and constant
axial edge clearance
MetrO2 from Cantor & Nissel represents a totally new approach to rigid lens fitting. The innovative design philosophy,
based on extensive research and development, encompasses lens geometry, material selection to ensure maximum oxygen
transmissibility and computer controlled manufacturing technology. MetrO2 is a state of the art RGP lens that is simple
to fit and which will provide guaranteed clinical performance.
Product features
- If you have a preference for prescribing RGP lenses without the use of a diagnostic set the unique incremental MetrO2
design provides the perfect choice; MetrO2 lenses may be specified with confidence based on keratometry and spectacle Rx.
- The computer designed aspheric periphery is individually calculated for each lens to provide constant axial edge clearance
and ensure maximum comfort.
- Automatic material selection based on lens dimensions guarantees that every lens will have oxygen transmissibility which
is at least the level required by the average patient for all-day wear.
Single-use diagnostic evaluation sets
A standard 12-lens diagnostic evaluation set is available with powers of either +3.00D or -3.00D, manufactured from PMMA.
Other powers are available to special order.
Tints
The standard tint is pale blue. Other tints from the Paragon range are available to order.

Oxyflex 4F
Oxyflex 4F is a rigid gas permeable lens for daily wear
Lens design and material
Oxyflex 4F has been designed to produce a balanced periphery with optimum edge lift throughout the range of parameters.
The use of high precision manufacturing methods enables a 0.07mm interval to be used for the back optic zone radius.
This has the benefit of reducing the range of lenses required for diagnostic evaluation.
Product features
- Available in a range of fluorocarbon materials
- Choice of tints: blue, grey, green or clear
- Comprehensive range of lens dimensions
